| -attention--the following is a rant--be wary of your time
it's funny how you can love something when you were a kid, but hate it when you're an adult. or hated it when you were a kid, and love it now as you're an adult. a few examples: i hated coffee as a kid. my dad would offer me sips of his Dunkin' Donuts coffee on his way to work, and i'd go "ewww!" and squish my face. now, it's like the heavens are shining down on me with my first sip every morning. another example: i used to love laffy taffy candy. now, it's too sweet and i hate how it gets stuck in the back of your teeth. and now THE example of the day: TUESDAY. i used to LOVE tuesday. i recollect writing in my 2nd grade journal (because we had to practice our cursive) something like,
"Dear journal, My favorite day of the week is Tuesday. This is because we have art today. Art is my favorite subject, especially with Ms. Senecal. She is fun. I also like Tuesday because my Dad picks my brothers and me up from school and we go to either McDonalds, Burger King, or KFC for a snack. And at night, we have our grandparents come over for a big dinner every Tuesday. Sincerely, Lisa
now, being 14 years older, I hate tuesday. even though i only have 2.5 hours of class on tuesday, it is the most work intensive day of my week. tuesday follows monday, 1 of 3 days when i have class 10-6, then practice, then hw. uberly tired by the end of the day. tuesday follows a friday schedule, but tuesday does not end with the weekend (for the past 3 tuesdays, i've woken up thinking it was friday, and then finally realizing during my first class, then worrying about the workload for the rest of the week). tuesday doesn't end. it usually bleeds right into wednesday morning, as i'm frantically putting things together for studio for the following day in the wee hours of night. wed morning is usually accompanied with a large cup of coffee during class, trying not to fall asleep in a dark lecture hall. by the time i have time to breathe, it's friday, when i had just realized that the week's almost gone and i am yet another week older.
i miss good, simpler times, of having carefree art class on tuesdays after naptime, and going to kfc with my dad and brothers. it makes me feel like we're all growing up way too fast in the world.

| happy 2007 everybody! i hope everybody had an awesome time ringing in the new year! at the party i was at, we didn't have a tv on, so we were all looking at our phones, and we'd be like, "2 minutes!" and then the ppl with sprint phones were like, "no! 1 minute!" and some went "50 seconds!" and some went "3...2.....1 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!" but then 10 seconds later, the other half of the crowd counted down AGAIN! sheer silliness but sheer fun. and how many guys does it take to open a champagne bottle? i always thought 1. heck, even i can do it with mine own 2 hands. but as new years even showed me, it takes 8 drunk guys to try to pop the bottle. i was amazed. amazed. . and my first meal of the new year? chau chow city in boston chinatown at 3am on new year's day with van and some buddies. we got mayo-walnut shrimp, "dow miu", general gau's, calamari, house fried rice, and yummy noodles (i forget the chinese name, but they serve it at the end of traditional Chinese weddings). it was a good time. my hazelnut cappuccino is my best friend right now. . | | |
